You'll need your mobile device and a piece of government-issued photo ID to sign up and complete verification. Head to the iOS App Store, Google Play Store, or tap here to get the goConfirm app.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, your first step will be to enter your email and set a password. Next, we’ll move on to building your profile!

Set a profile photo

The first step to verification is choosing your profile photo—this should be well-lit and closely cropped to your face. Make sure to choose a photo with no glasses or obstructions, no other people in the frame, and no heavy filters or edits.

Your profile photo will not be public, and is only shared with verified users who connect with you through a goCode you choose to share. More on that in later steps.

Verify your identity

Please note that if you have already signed up for goConfirm and started verification, you will not be able to continue, even if you did not previously complete it, or your original account has been deleted. We may be able to help. Please contact support.

Choose the appropriate country and ID type. If you do not currently have a piece of ID issued by a supported country (Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Australia, New Zealand), please contact support. Scan your ID in a well-lit room on a neutral background. Lastly, a quick face scan to make sure the person using your ID is you. You're done!

If you see a notice that your verification is processing, you can expect an email notification when it's completed. This usually takes no more than five minutes.

Create your goCode

You're ready to create your goCode! A goCode is a unique code used to connect with others and build trust in relation to a specific product or service transaction. In this case, for a rental, but you can use it for other online exchanges, too!

If you are creating your first code as part of your request to post in the group, please choose Community Entry and enter "Rentals Group" plus the city or school name in the description field.

Otherwise, choose Home Rental and enter the details. For example:

• 1 BR/1 BA Annex, $1,800 | Avail Dec 1st
• Seeking roommate for shared 2 BR | $1,000
• ISO private room on the west side, pet-friendly

Copy, paste, and share

On the confirmation screen for your goCode, tap the button to copy it to your clipboard. Switch back over to Facebook, and paste it into your new draft post or into the answer field for our membership questions. Submit as usual!

Please note that our moderators will still need to review and approve the post or requests, but in both cases submissions with goCodes are prioritised and will be reviewed within a day or sooner.

Connect with interested members

When another member is interested in your listing or might have one that matches your needs, make sure you ask them to connect using your goCode. They can do this by entering your code in their own goConfirm app or get started by entering it on our website.

When they connect, you'll exchange verified profiles and have improved confidence in one another, as well as a record of your connection in the event you need it.

Your goCode will automatically expire at the time you selected, or you can choose to archive it at any time. Once it is expired or archived, sensitive information will be redacted.

That's it! Each time you are searching for or listing something, or buying and selling in a different community, you can create a new goCode and use it to bring peace of mind to the transaction.
